Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is an American-Mexican sportscaster. Her employer is ESPN and is the SportsCenter News Anchor. She joined ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. She is a daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta Collins is bilingual and has been for a long time, starting at when she was nine years old. The ability to speak two languages allowed her to land her first job at Univision, Miami. She worked with national producers on programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Then, she was hired by the CBS affiliate located in St. Petersburg employed her as a reporter for sports. In 2009, she moved from Texas into Rio Grande Valley where she was a news reporter on KNVO TV 48 Univision. The stories she covered were about immigration and drug trafficking in both Texas and Mexico. She would also fill in occasionally as a weather and sports anchor. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's affiliate station in Dallas. There she had more duties. She covered events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. She also hosted the local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was hired as anchor for sports by Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. She held the same position as a sports anchor for Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo on UniMas Network. Antonietta Collins' parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The city of Mexico City she was conceived on November 22nd 1985. There is an older sister. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico to the US and settled in Miami. Her parents divorced soon after and, in 1995, she was married a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 due to kidney cancer. In the summer in 2006 she spent an entire week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working at the time. Antonietta was the senior of her high school however, she was very aware of her career goals. She visited Mount Union University to find out if the school was suitable for her. The campus was a dream for her. They also offered her the degree she wanted. Following the completion of her high school education, she enrolled in the University to pursue media studies. Her professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM, and was student in her class, developed a lasting relationship with her. Mark Bergmann inspired her to believe in herself and his enthusiasm in journalism was a huge influence on her. She in turn, strived to fulfill his standards and never let him down.
