Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, at Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman was the first child born to Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. Her father, who was a carnival barker, died when she was a small little girl. This forced her mother to provide for the family by being an attendant and a cleaner. Ruth attended school, and grew up in poverty within Boston Massachusetts in the tenement district. The school she was attending within two years of her education to pursue a career as an actor. Her path to success turned out be filled with challenges: in New York, she obtained the opportunity to pose as stills for a crime magazine, but theatrical work eluded her. In New York, she was employed in a bar as a check-in girl before quitting after a few months and moving to Boston. It was the New England Repertory Company was her first gig as an actor who was steady. Earned money working during the day in the ushering department. She studied drama at The Bishop-Lee Theatre School and graduated.
